Test Data for a First-Order Equation Operator on the Noise Wasserstein Space and the Admissible Sets

Test data for a first-order operator over the score domain are triples of a measure, a real number and a noise field; a datum is R-bounded when the distance to the reference, the penalty, the real number and the field norm are all below R, and the admissible sets collect R-bounded data whose shifted operator values can be compared with those of another R-bounded datum.

Statement

In the setting of First-Order Equations on the Noise Wasserstein Space Relative to a Noise Penalty Pair: Standing Notation, let (D,DΣ,E,Σ)(\mathcal{D},\mathcal{D}_{\Sigma},\mathcal{E},\Sigma) be a noise penalty pair on Pρa\mathcal{P}^{a}_{\rho} and let FF be a first-order equation operator over DΣ\mathcal{D}_{\Sigma}, with δ\delta-shifts Fδ−F^{-}_{\delta} and Fδ+F^{+}_{\delta} relative to that pair for each positive δ∈R\delta\in\mathbb{R}, defined on Va(DΣ)×R\mathcal{V}^{a}(\mathcal{D}_{\Sigma})\times\mathbb{R}. Products of sets are Cartesian products and ∣s∣|s| is the absolute value of s∈Rs\in\mathbb{R}.

1. (Test data) The set of test data for FF is the product

W=Va(DΣ)×R,\mathcal{W}=\mathcal{V}^{a}(\mathcal{D}_{\Sigma})\times\mathbb{R},

which is the domain of Fδ−F^{-}_{\delta} and of Fδ+F^{+}_{\delta} for every positive δ∈R\delta\in\mathbb{R}. Its elements are written ξ=(ν,r,q)\xi=(\nu,r,q), standing for the element ((ν,q),r)((\nu,q),r) of that product, and for such a ξ\xi and a positive δ∈R\delta\in\mathbb{R} we write Fδ−(ξ)=Fδ−(ν,r,q)F^{-}_{\delta}(\xi)=F^{-}_{\delta}(\nu,r,q) and Fδ+(ξ)=Fδ+(ν,r,q)F^{+}_{\delta}(\xi)=F^{+}_{\delta}(\nu,r,q).

2. (RR-bounded test data) Let R∈RR\in\mathbb{R} be positive. A test datum ξ=(ν,r,q)∈W\xi=(\nu,r,q)\in\mathcal{W} is RR-bounded if

Wa(ν,ρ)<R,∣E(ν)∣<R,∣r∣<R,∥q∥ν<R;W_{a}(\nu,\rho)<R,\qquad\bigl|\mathcal{E}(\nu)\bigr|<R,\qquad|r|<R,\qquad\lVert q\rVert_{\nu}<R;

here E(ν)\mathcal{E}(\nu) is defined because ν∈DΣ⊆D\nu\in\mathcal{D}_{\Sigma}\subseteq\mathcal{D}, and Wa(ν,ρ)W_{a}(\nu,\rho) is a nonnegative real number because ν,ρ∈Pρa\nu,\rho\in\mathcal{P}^{a}_{\rho} (Noise Penalty Pairs on the Noise Wasserstein Space: the Penalty, Its Score, and Their Domains §pair, The Noise Wasserstein Distance is a Metric on the Measures Noise-Connected to the Reference Measure: Existence of Noise-Optimal Couplings, Comparison with the Quadratic Wasserstein Distance and Lower Semicontinuity §reference), so that the pair is noise-connected by The Noise Wasserstein Distance is a Metric on the Measures Noise-Connected to the Reference Measure: Existence of Noise-Optimal Couplings, Comparison with the Quadratic Wasserstein Distance and Lower Semicontinuity §connected.

3. (Admissible test data) Let δ,R∈R\delta,R\in\mathbb{R} be positive. The set Sδ,R−S^{-}_{\delta,R} consists of those ξ∈W\xi\in\mathcal{W} that are RR-bounded and for which there exists an RR-bounded η∈W\eta\in\mathcal{W} with

Fδ−(ξ)−Fδ+(η)<R.F^{-}_{\delta}(\xi)-F^{+}_{\delta}(\eta)<R .

The set Sδ,R+S^{+}_{\delta,R} consists of those η∈W\eta\in\mathcal{W} that are RR-bounded and for which there exists an RR-bounded ξ∈W\xi\in\mathcal{W} satisfying the same inequality. Both sets depend on FF, on the noise penalty pair, on δ\delta and on RR.
