The Free-Field Generator with a Mode Cutoff

At cutoff N the free-field generator applies to each kept mode half the noise intensity times the second mode derivative minus the weight times the coordinate times the first mode derivative; the uncut generator is the limit in N where it exists.

Statement

In the setting of The Wick-Square Problem on the Torus: Standing Notation, let φ:H−1→R\varphi:H^{-1}\to\mathbb{R} be twice differentiable along the modes, with mode derivatives ∂kφ\partial_{k}\varphi and ∂k2φ\partial_{k}^{2}\varphi, and let x∈H−1x\in H^{-1}. Sums over the cube ΓN\Gamma_{N} are sums over a finite index set.

1. (Free-field generator) For N∈NN\in\mathbb{N}, the free-field generator at cutoff NN applied to φ\varphi at xx is

LNφ(x)=∑k∈ΓN(ν2 ∂k2φ(x)−μk x(k) ∂kφ(x)).L_{N}\varphi(x)=\sum_{k\in\Gamma_{N}}\Bigl(\frac{\nu}{2}\,\partial_{k}^{2}\varphi(x)-\mu_{k}\,x(k)\,\partial_{k}\varphi(x)\Bigr).

2. (Uncut generator) If the sequence (LNφ(x))N∈N(L_{N}\varphi(x))_{N\in\mathbb{N}} converges, LφL\varphi is said to be defined at xx, and Lφ(x)L\varphi(x) denotes the limit, which is unique by claim 1 of Uniqueness of Limits and Boundedness of Convergent Real Sequences.
