Reading Natural Numbers in ℝ: Injectivity, Order and Pascal's Rule

Reading natural numbers with zero as real numbers is injective and preserves and reflects the order, and Pascal's rule holds in ℝ.

Statement

In the setting of Routine Facts Used Without Citation: Arithmetic, Maps, Predicativity and Indices, for n∈N0n\in\mathbb{N}_{0} let nRn_{\mathbb{R}} be its image in R\mathbb{R}, and let (nk)\binom{n}{k} be the binomial coefficient. Let m,n,k∈N0m,n,k\in\mathbb{N}_{0}.

Injectivity. If mR=nRm_{\mathbb{R}}=n_{\mathbb{R}}, then m=nm=n.

Order. m≤nm\le n if and only if mR≤nRm_{\mathbb{R}}\le n_{\mathbb{R}}, and m<nm<n if and only if mR<nRm_{\mathbb{R}}<n_{\mathbb{R}}.

Pascal's rule. In R\mathbb{R}, (n0)=1\binom{n}{0}=1, (0k+1)=0\binom{0}{k+1}=0 and

(n+1k+1)=(nk)+(nk+1).\binom{n+1}{k+1}=\binom{n}{k}+\binom{n}{k+1}.
