Powers with a Variable Base: a Predicative Formula and the Map (x, m) ↦ xmx^m

For a binary operation with a neutral element, the relation z = xmx^m between a base, an exponent in the natural numbers with zero and the power is expressed by a predicative formula, and (x, m) ↦ xmx^m is a map.

Statement

In the setting of The Natural Numbers and the Natural Numbers with Zero: Arithmetic, Order, Induction and Recursion, with predicative meant for formulas with abbreviations, conditions expressed by a predicative formula are as in Conditions Expressed by a Predicative Formula, and Guards (ii), with parameters and their fixed values as in Conditions Expressed by a Predicative Formula, and Guards (i). Let ⋅\cdot be a binary operation on a set XX with a neutral element ee, the only one by A Binary Operation Has at Most One Neutral Element (i); for x∈Xx\in X and m∈N0m\in\mathbb{N}_{0}, xmx^{m} is the power of Powers with Exponents in the Natural Numbers with Zero (i) and Powers with Exponents in the Natural Numbers with Zero (ii), so that x0=ex^{0}=e.

This clause is a statement of the metatheory. The letters xx, mm and zz are distinct set variables, and XX, ⋅\cdot, ee, N\mathbb{N}, N0\mathbb{N}_{0}, and the order ≤\le, the addition ++ and the element 00 of N0\mathbb{N}_{0} are parameters. Then the condition "x∈Xx\in X, m∈N0m\in\mathbb{N}_{0} and z=xmz=x^{m}" on xx, mm and zz is expressed by a predicative formula.

There is exactly one map p:X×N0→Xp:X\times\mathbb{N}_{0}\to X, with X×N0X\times\mathbb{N}_{0} the Cartesian product, with p(x,m)=xmp(x,m)=x^{m} for all x∈Xx\in X and m∈N0m\in\mathbb{N}_{0}.
