Convex Subset of a Real Vector Space

A subset of a real vector space is convex if it contains tx+(1−t)y for any two of its points x, y and every t in [0,1].

Statement

In the setting of Separable Real Normed Spaces and Hahn–Banach: Notation, let VV be a real vector space and let C⊆VC\subseteq V.

Convex set. CC is convex if

t x+(1−t) y∈Cfor all x,y∈C and every t∈R with 0≤t≤1.t\,x+(1-t)\,y\in C\qquad\text{for all }x,y\in C\text{ and every }t\in\mathbb{R}\text{ with }0\le t\le1.
