Lower Semicontinuity of the Torus Fisher Information and Closedness of the Score Along Couplings

If measures of bounded torus Fisher information converge, the limit has Fisher information at most the bound, and pairings of fields converging along couplings with the scores converge to the pairing with the score of the limit.

Statement

In the setting of Optimal Transport on the Flat Torus: Standing Notation, let PI(Td)\mathcal{P}^{\mathcal{I}}(\mathbb{T}^{d}), the score ξ\xi and the torus Fisher information I\mathcal{I} be as in Finite Torus Fisher Information, the Torus Score and the Torus Fisher Information of a Probability Measure on the Torus §finite, let TνT_{\nu} be the tangent space at ν∈P(Td)\nu\in\mathcal{P}(\mathbb{T}^{d}), and let convergence along couplings be as defined there. Let ν∈P(Td)\nu\in\mathcal{P}(\mathbb{T}^{d}), let (νn)n∈N(\nu_{n})_{n\in\mathbb{N}} be a sequence in PI(Td)\mathcal{P}^{\mathcal{I}}(\mathbb{T}^{d}) that converges to ν\nu in (P(Td),WT)(\mathcal{P}(\mathbb{T}^{d}),W_{\mathbb{T}}), and let CC be a real number with I(νn)≤C\mathcal{I}(\nu_{n})\le C for every n∈Nn\in\mathbb{N}. Then the following hold.

1. (Lower semicontinuity) ν∈PI(Td)\nu\in\mathcal{P}^{\mathcal{I}}(\mathbb{T}^{d}) and I(ν)≤C\mathcal{I}(\nu)\le C.

2. (Closedness of the score) Let η∈Tν\eta\in T_{\nu} and, for n∈Nn\in\mathbb{N}, ηn∈L2(νn;Rd)\eta_{n}\in L^{2}(\nu_{n};\mathbb{R}^{d}), and suppose that ((νn,ηn))n∈N((\nu_{n},\eta_{n}))_{n\in\mathbb{N}} converges along couplings to (ν,η)(\nu,\eta). Then the real sequence (⟨ηn,ξνn⟩νn)n∈N(\langle\eta_{n},\xi_{\nu_{n}}\rangle_{\nu_{n}})_{n\in\mathbb{N}} converges to ⟨η,ξν⟩ν\langle\eta,\xi_{\nu}\rangle_{\nu}.
