Boundary of a Subset of a Metric Space

The boundary of a subset of a metric space is its closure minus its interior.

Statement

In the setting of Routine Facts, Continued: Typed Arithmetic, Maps and Predicativity, let (S,d)(S,d) be a metric space and let A⊆SA\subseteq S, with closure cl⁡A\operatorname{cl}A and interior int⁡A\operatorname{int}A.

Boundary. The boundary of AA is the subset of SS

∂A=cl⁡A∖int⁡A.\partial A=\operatorname{cl}A\setminus\operatorname{int}A .
