Membership and the Zero Law of a Real Vector Space in Flat Form

Sums and scalar multiples of vectors lie in the space, and the zero vector is neutral on the left.

Statement

In the setting of Routine Facts, Continued: Typed Arithmetic, Maps and Predicativity and Real Normed, Inner Product and Hilbert Spaces: Notation, let VV, with its addition and scalar multiplication, be a real vector space.

Closure under addition. If u,v∈Vu,v\in V, then u+v∈Vu+v\in V.

Closure under scalar multiplication. If λ∈R\lambda\in\mathbb{R} and v∈Vv\in V, then λv∈V\lambda v\in V.

Zero on the left. If x∈Vx\in V, then 0V+x=x0_{V}+x=x.
