The Derived Series of Moduli of a Power Series Converges at Every Smaller Radius, Below a Radius of Convergence, and at All Radii

If the series of |c_k| σ^(k-1) converges, then the derived series of k |c_(k+1)| ρ^(k-1) converges for every ρ with 0 < ρ < σ; hence convergence for all radii below R, or for all radii, passes to the derived series.

Statement

In the setting of Complex Analysis: Standing Notation, let (ck)(c_{k}) be a sequence in C\mathbb{C}. For k∈Nk\in\mathbb{N}, k−1∈N0k-1\in\mathbb{N}_{0} is the difference, and series of real numbers are as in Complex Analysis: Standing Notation (iii).

One radius. Let ρ\rho and σ\sigma be real numbers with 0<ρ<σ0<\rho<\sigma. If the series ∑k=1∞∣ck∣ σk−1\sum_{k=1}^{\infty}|c_{k}|\,\sigma^{k-1} converges, then so does

∑k=1∞k ∣ck+1∣ ρk−1.\sum_{k=1}^{\infty}k\,|c_{k+1}|\,\rho^{k-1}.

All radii below RR. Let R>0R>0 be a real number. If ∑k=1∞∣ck∣ ρk−1\sum_{k=1}^{\infty}|c_{k}|\,\rho^{k-1} converges for every real ρ\rho with 0<ρ<R0<\rho<R, then ∑k=1∞k ∣ck+1∣ ρk−1\sum_{k=1}^{\infty}k\,|c_{k+1}|\,\rho^{k-1} converges for every real ρ\rho with 0<ρ<R0<\rho<R.

All radii. If ∑k=1∞∣ck∣ ρk−1\sum_{k=1}^{\infty}|c_{k}|\,\rho^{k-1} converges for every real ρ>0\rho>0, then ∑k=1∞k ∣ck+1∣ ρk−1\sum_{k=1}^{\infty}k\,|c_{k+1}|\,\rho^{k-1} converges for every real ρ>0\rho>0.
