The Reciprocal on the Type of Real Numbers

For a nonzero element x of the type Real, the reciprocal x⁻¹ is the element whose set is the reciprocal of x in ℝ; it satisfies x·x⁻¹ = 1, x⁻¹ ≠ 0 and (x⁻¹)⁻¹ = x, and 0 ≠ 1.

Statement

In the setting of The Real Numbers, with the Natural Numbers, Integers and Rationals Identified with Subsets of the Reals, and Completeness, with Real\mathrm{Real} the type of The Real Numbers as a Type (i) and its operations and numerals as in The Real Numbers as a Type (ii) and The Real Numbers as a Type (iii): for x≠0x\ne0 in Real\mathrm{Real}, the reciprocal x−1x^{-1} is the element of Real\mathrm{Real} whose set (as in The Real Numbers as a Type (i)) is the reciprocal of xx in R\mathbb{R}; this reciprocal lies in R\mathbb{R} and satisfies x⋅x−1=1x\cdot x^{-1}=1 (Negatives, Reciprocals and the Strict Order in an Ordered Field, as Values (ii)). In Lean the reciprocal is recipR\mathtt{recipR}.
