A Probability Measure Is Finite

Every probability measure, in particular the measure of a probability space, is a finite measure.

Statement

We work in the setting of Measure Spaces, Borel Sets and Lebesgue Measure on the Real Line: Standing Notation.

Let (X,F)(X,\mathcal{F}) be a measurable space and μ\mu a measure on it. If μ\mu is a probability measure, then μ\mu is finite.

If (Ω,F,P)(\Omega,\mathcal{F},P) is a probability space, then PP is a measure on (Ω,F)(\Omega,\mathcal{F}) that is finite.
