The Boundary of a Subset of a Metric Space Is Closed and Borel

The boundary of any subset of a metric space is closed in the metric topology, hence a Borel set.

Statement

In the setting of Measurable Functions and the Lebesgue Integral: Standing Notation and Routine Facts, Continued: Typed Arithmetic, Maps and Predicativity, let (S,d)(S,d) be a metric space with Borel σ\sigma-algebra B(S)\mathcal{B}(S), and let A⊆SA\subseteq S with boundary ∂A\partial A.

The boundary is closed. ∂A\partial A is closed in (S,Td)(S,\mathcal{T}_{d}), and hence ∂A∈B(S)\partial A\in\mathcal{B}(S).
