Constant Barriers for Envelope Viscosity Solutions under Regular Plan Subgradients

If the free energy has regular plan subgradients and the Hamiltonian at zero momentum is bounded by K on laws inside the wall, then the constants -K/rho and K/rho are an envelope viscosity subsolution and supersolution, for any shift range.

Statement

In the setting of The Discounted HJB Equation with Free Langevin Noise in a Wall, Envelope Form: Standing Notation, let ρ,σ,R>0\rho,\sigma,R>0 be the discount rate, the noise intensity and the wall radius; let E:D→R\mathcal{E}:\mathcal{D}\to\mathbb{R}, on D=D0∩DR\mathcal{D}=\mathcal{D}_{0}\cap\mathcal{D}_{R}, be the wall-confined free energy with radius RR of the free entropy penalty (D0,E0)(\mathcal{D}_{0},\mathcal{E}_{0}), with score domain DΞ\mathcal{D}_{\Xi} and score Ξ\Xi; let H:Σ2d2→R\mathcal{H}:\Sigma^{2}_{2d}\to\mathbb{R} be the Hamiltonian; and let (E)(\mathrm{E}) be the discounted Hamilton--Jacobi--Bellman equation with free Langevin noise in a wall, in score form, with these data, all as fixed in The Discounted HJB Equation with Free Langevin Noise in a Wall, Envelope Form: Standing Notation §data. Suppose D\mathcal{D} is nonempty and E\mathcal{E} has regular plan subgradients. Lifts HM\mathcal{H}_{M} are those of Plan Jets and Hamiltonians on Square-Integrable Noncommutative Laws: Standing Notation §lifts, laws of L2L^{2} dd-tuples are those of Tracial W*-Probability Spaces and Square-Integrable Tuples: Standing Notation §tuples, and κd(Σd,R)\kappa_{d}(\Sigma_{d,R}) is the image of the set Σd,R\Sigma_{d,R} of Noncommutative Laws, Couplings and the Wasserstein Distance: Standing Notation §laws under the canonical map κd\kappa_{d} of Square-Integrable Noncommutative Laws: Standing Notation §laws. Let K≥0K\ge0 be real with ∣HM(X,0)∣≤K|\mathcal{H}_{M}(X,0)|\le K for every tracial W*-probability space (H,M,Ω)(H,M,\Omega) and every L2L^{2} dd-tuple XX of it with law(X)∈κd(Σd,R)\mathrm{law}(X)\in\kappa_{d}(\Sigma_{d,R}), where 00 is the zero L2L^{2} dd-tuple, and let δ0>0\delta_{0}>0 be real.

1. (Lower barrier) The constant function Σd2→R\Sigma^{2}_{d}\to\mathbb{R} with value −K/ρ-K/\rho is an envelope viscosity subsolution of (E)(\mathrm{E}) with shift range δ0\delta_{0}.

2. (Upper barrier) The constant function Σd2→R\Sigma^{2}_{d}\to\mathbb{R} with value K/ρK/\rho is an envelope viscosity supersolution of (E)(\mathrm{E}) with shift range δ0\delta_{0}.
