The Convex Hull of a Compact Subset of Rn\mathbb{R}^n is Compact

The convex hull of a compact subset of RnR^n is compact; in particular the convex hull of finitely many points is compact.

Statement

In the setting of Convex Sets in Rn\mathbb{R}^n: Standing Notation, with the convex hull conv⁡\operatorname{conv}.

Compact sets. If S⊆RnS\subseteq\mathbb{R}^{n} is compact, then conv⁡S\operatorname{conv}S is compact.

Finitely many points. For N∈NN\in\mathbb{N} and x1,…,xN∈Rnx_{1},\dots,x_{N}\in\mathbb{R}^{n}, the set conv⁡{x1,…,xN}\operatorname{conv}\{x_{1},\dots,x_{N}\} is compact.
