Sublinear Functional

A real-valued function on a real vector space is sublinear if it is subadditive and positively homogeneous.

Statement

In the setting of Separable Real Normed Spaces and Hahn–Banach: Notation, let VV be a real vector space and let p:V→Rp:V\to\mathbb{R} be a function.

Subadditivity. p(x+y)≤p(x)+p(y)p(x+y)\le p(x)+p(y) for all x,y∈Vx,y\in V.

Nonnegative homogeneity. p(λx)=λ p(x)p(\lambda x)=\lambda\,p(x) for all x∈Vx\in V and every real λ≥0\lambda\ge0.

Sublinear functional. pp is a sublinear functional on VV if it satisfies (i) and (ii).
