The Diagonal Subsequence Lemma for Bounded Real Arrays

For a doubly indexed array of real numbers each of whose columns is a bounded sequence, one strictly increasing sequence of row indices makes every column converge.

Statement

In the setting of Locally Compact Metric Spaces and Compactly Supported Functions: Standing Notation, let a:N×N→Ra:\mathbb{N}\times\mathbb{N}\to\mathbb{R}, (m,k)↦am,k(m,k)\mapsto a_{m,k}, be a function such that for every k∈Nk\in\mathbb{N} the sequence (am,k)m∈N(a_{m,k})_{m\in\mathbb{N}} is bounded.

Diagonal subsequence. There is a strictly increasing sequence (mj)j∈N(m_{j})_{j\in\mathbb{N}} in N\mathbb{N} such that for every k∈Nk\in\mathbb{N} the sequence (amj,k)j∈N(a_{m_{j},k})_{j\in\mathbb{N}} is convergent.
